About Jack Grundy

My name is Jack Grundy I am 18 years old and

am an up and coming triathlete

My History:

I started my sporting career as a competitive swimmer at the age of nine and swam for my local club (West Wight Swimming Club), this then led to swimming at county level.

Due to my swimming I gained a good base fitness for other sports such as cross country running, I was then selected for the island cross country team where I competed on the mainland at Hampshire level.

My cycling experience began when I completed the 7 hills mountain bike event when I was 14 this led to road cycling where I now compete in time trial and road race events on the Isle of Wight and on the mainland. I am now fully committed to triathlon, duathlon and aquathlon events.

My long term ambition would be to challenge for a place in the 2012, 2016 olympic team. To achieve these goals I have to frequently travel to the mainland to take part in competitions and train with elite athletes and specialist coaches. In June 2007 I will be competing in the World Island Games in Rhodes.

As well as training for triathlons, I aim to pursue a career in sport, I studied at Sandown High School taking the BTECH national diploma in sports science, and I am now studying at Bath University where I am able to study and train with like minded athletes.
